5 Sci-fi Spaceships You Will Never Forget

Sci-Fi movies and TV series have been the most favorite among the viewers. The presentation of hi-tech next-gen gadgets, vehicles, robots, and other technology make these science fictions more appealing. Any Sci-Fi movie is almost incomplete without a spaceship. Taking the cue, just for the reader’s entertainment, this blog has listed below five Sci-Fi Spaceships that appeared in a 70s-80s-or 90s movie but still we can’t forget them as even new 21^st century released movies are re-producing those spaceships. 

1. Valley Forge

 Seen in the a 1972 released American science fiction film “Silent Running,” Valley Forge is one of the unforgettable Sci-Fi spaceship. The Valley Forge was a fleet of ships that was located near Saturn. This spaceship was shown containing the last of Earth’s forests. Valley Forge was the last surviving ship with forest because all other forests on earth were destroyed after orders from the Earth. But one botanist on-board at Forge refused to destroy the last surviving earth forest. The design of this spaceship can be compared with the real life barges that are seen on canals covered with pot plants.

2. Engineers’ Ship

 

Engineers’ Ship is alien-looking Sci-Fi ship that appeared in the 1979 movie titled Aliens and again in the 2012 movie “Prometheus” Engineers’ ship again got featured on the silver screen. The ship looks very weird and iconic. Although, at the first look, the design appears to be a random one but actually the design is meant to provide a not-so-subtle look to the ship. Concept artist HR Giger designed this ship. In real life, this ship can be compared with a catamaran.

3. Asgard Ships

Asgard Ships were shown in the Canadian-American science fiction television series named Stargate SG-1. It was an adventure and military science fiction production. These ships were shown as one of the most powerful races that the SGC encountered. Asgard Ships had vessels that would use a force through which these can be reckoned. These ships looked very aesthetic and its design was a combination of Viking iconography and classic space ship lines. This makes the Asgard ships look like reminiscent of floating long ships in space or like a very big bottle opener or the back side of a sword.

4. Mothership

Shown in the Steven Spielberg’s 1977 released American science fiction film “Close Encounters of The Third Kind,” Mothership is indeed one of the most unforgettable Sci-Fi Spaceship that can mesmerize the viewers even after more than 30 years of its release on silver screen. Built by Greg Jein and designed by Ralph McQuarrie, Mothership was inspired from the nocturnal view of an oil refinery that Spielberg came across in India. The design of the ship can also be compared with a Cathedral at Christmas.

5. Prometheus

The list will be incomplete without discussing about the Prometheus spaceship that appeared in the 2012 released movie titled Prometheus. In the movie, this ship was at certain point shown as a great thing while at some point it was showcased as an awful creation. But whatever, Prometheus felt like a functional and real spaceship, especially during the shot when the protagonist Janek was shown standing on the cockpit’s window. In real life Prometheus looks like a big giant growling dinosaur.
